Matte Foil Stamping & Alternating Turquoise & Navy edging

IN THE STUDIO

The design was minimal and clean on this invitation project, but we pulled out all the stops on the production.

We duplexed a highly textured pale gray paper to give these cards some serious heft. We printed the type in a matte navy and turquoise foil stamp and alternated the colored, bevel edging so that it was the opposite color of the type on each card. Navy, turquoise. Turquoise, navy. Navy, turquoise ……

Botanical Print – Save the Date

IN THE STUDIO

This particular save the date combined a wonderful botanical print of an orange blossom with metallic gold edging, lush cotton paper, letterpress printing and digital printing. The end result is a beautifully textured and organic piece fitting for a Southern Cali wedding.

A DAY IN MAY was honored to have one of our wine label designs selected for the MOMA San Francisco’s recent wine exhibit; “How Wine Became Modern: Design + Wine 1976 to Now”. Pretty cool. Check out our “Donkey and Goat” label which is currently on the wall at the museum.
And in other wine news, our very charming new label design is hot off the press …. “Lucinda & Millie” organic wine. On sale now at Whole Foods everywhere (well, actually only in the States that allow wine in grocery stores). Drink up!

Shinny Foil Stamping

IN THE STUDIO

Lately at A Day in May, we’ve been loving foil stamping. The end result has a similar effect to letterpress, in that the printing is recessed (pushed into the paper) but with foil stamping we have the option to create a bright and shinny effect. Check out some recent works below!

Kaleidoscope of color

IN THE STUDIO

This playful and modern invitation suite was created for a wedding at the Bowery Hotel in downtown New York City. We love working with color at A Day in May so this project was particularly fun for us. It also allowed us to use some of our new digital printing techniques which look gorgeous on luscious Crane’s letterpress paper.

This project was done in collaboration with Sofia Crokos a fabulously creative event planner in NYC that we love:

Cheers! Wine label design

IN THE STUDIO

585 Wine Partners in Sonoma California contacted us to design wine labels for their new brand, L’Attitude.  In addition to their excellent grape growing conditions, Sonoma, California and Burgundy, France share almost the exact same latitudinal coordinates (39 and 47 degrees respectively).  585 Wine Partners was looking to create labels that were not only classically French in appeal, but also graphically communicated their similar latitudinal parallels. Below you’ll see the end result …. chardonnay and pinot noir labels embossed on a lushly textured cream paper. Cheers!
